The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently presented awards for outstanding technical and professional achievements.  The following individuals were honored at the 2024 ASABE Annual International Meeting, held Anaheim, California.

Peter G. McCornick, PE, is the recipient of the 2024 Sukup Global Food Security award for contributions to a water and food secure world through research, outreach, and education.   Full biography

Chris Schneider is the recipient of the 2024 SMV Technologies Ergonomics, Safety, and Health award for promoting safety through the development and application of industry standards. Full biography 

Paul A. Funk is the recipient of the 2024 Mayfield Cotton Engineering award for dedication and tenacious curiosity, coupled with engineering excellence and scientific integrity, in bringing innovative solutions to the cotton industry. Full biography

The Rain Bird Engineering Concept of the Year Award was presented to Jianwei (Tony) Qin, Kuanglin Chao, Insuck Baek, Diane E. Chan, and Moon S. Kim for their development of Multimodal Sensing Technology for Food Safety Inspection, a new technology  based on a multimodal sensing concept for rapid, automated, and intelligent food safety inspection. recognizes unique contributions to the development or advancement of a new engineering concept. Christopher Garrett Henry, PE, is the recipient of the 2024 Award for the Advancement of Surface Irrigation for research and extension efforts that have significantly improved water use in irrigated crops across the mid-South and beyond. Full biography 

Ali Demirci, ASABE Fellow, is the recipient of the 2024 International Food Engineering award for significant contributions to the development of non-thermal food processing methods for food decontamination and process development of value-added products. Full biography 

James E. Ayars, PE, is the recipient of the 2024 Netafim award for Advancements in Microirrigation for cutting edge research leading to the use of micro irrigation on all crops in all soil types. Full biography 

Lingjuan Wang Li, is the recipient of the 2024 Henry Giese Structures & Environment award for being a prolific and impactful researcher and educator in agricultural structures, air quality, and animal housing and welfare Full biography
