Early-Career Award Winners Announced

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) presented awards to five young members for notable early-career achievements. The five were honored at the 2023 ASABE Annual International Meeting.

Lori Duncan is the 2024 recipient of the Larry W. Turner Young Extension Professional Award for her development of a nationally recognized extension program that promotes sustainable management strategies among growers, consultants, agribusinesses, commodity organizations, and regulators.

The Larry W. Turner Young Extension Professional Award recognizes excellence in personal character and outstanding achievement in serving and  motivating clientele to acquire new knowledge and skills, transferring technology and research,  and advancing the profession of agricultural and biological engineering.

Lucie Guertault is the 2024 recipient of the A.W. Farrall Young Educator award for making exceptional contributions to the profession through her scholarship in engineering education and mentoring.The A. W. Farrall Young Educator Award honors outstanding success in motivating the application of engineering principles to the problems of agricultural engineering.

Scott Clark is the recipient of the 2024 Sunkist Young Designer award for exceptional leadership and technical contributions in the development and advancement of agricultural engineering and harvesting equipment.

The Sunkist Young Designer Award honors the development or creation of a technical plan that is materially influencing agricultural engineering progress, as evidenced by use in the field.

Brendan T. Higgins is the recipient of the 2024 New Holland Young Researcher award for being an emerging leader and student mentor in the area of waste valorization and sustainable microbial systems.

The New Holland Young Researcher Award honors dedicated use of scientific methodology to seek out facts or principles significant to agricultural engineering.

Juliana Vasco-Correa is the 2024 recipient of the Gale A. Holloway Professional Development award for her outstanding early career engagement and leadership in ASABE professional activities, mentoring, and technical achievements.

The Gale A. Holloway Professional Development Award seeks to encourage and recognize outstanding leadership and active involvement in ASABE for early career members.
