Community News

Community Editor Search Continues

ASABE is currently seeking nominations for a new Community Editor for the Education, Outreach, and Professional Development (EOPD) technical community, as the current editor, Monica Gray, will be transitioning to a new position and unable to continue in this role. We are also accepting nominations for a new Community Editor for the Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) technical community, as Dr. Kati Migliaccio will be ending her term and has chosen to step down after many years of exemplary service.

The community editor (CE) responsibilities include managing and overseeing an active pool of associate editors, serving on the P-511 Journal Editorial Board committee, screening manuscripts and assigning them to associate editors, making decisions on manuscripts relative to reviewers’ and associate editors’ recommendations, and communicating with the editor-in-chief (EIC) and headquarters staff regarding publication issues.

Applications should include (1) a current CV and (2) a brief statement (no more than one page) of interests and goals, including a description of prior editorial board experience either inside or outside of ASABE. Please submit these documents by email to Sudhagar Mani, EIC, at eic@asabe.org by October 3, 2025, for full consideration. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Giving Back Fund Open for Submissions

Volunteers working on a water engineering projectGrain harvesting, rainwater harvesting, multipurpose field equipment--these are just few of the transformative projects that the Giving Back Fund has supported in recent years.

Administered by the ASABE Foundation, the Giving Back Fund provides financial support to projects that showcase the knowledge and skills of the agricultural and biological engineering profession through efforts that benefit underserved individuals or groups.

Eligible projects may take place anywhere in the world; no preference is given in the selection process for geographic location. The endeavor may involve building, designing, planning, teaching, or other assistance that has tangible evidence of the endeavor.

Submissions are due December 31.

Picture this!

Photo from previous Visual Challenge
Resource magazine’s VisualChallenge is calling all creators to capture the spirit of ag and bio engineering in fresh and exciting ways. From the lab to the field, show us what inspires you—and your work could inspire others! The VisualChallenge is an opportunity to be creative and to show those outside the ABE field: "This is what we do." Use your entry to convey the beauty and meaning of your work, your research developments, or your Society community.

Submit original work as an email attachment in JPG format (300 dpi or higher) to the Resource editor. Please include your full name, professional affiliation, contact information, and a title with a brief description of your entry in your message. If necessary, include a source credit and an assurance that permission has been granted to submit, and possibly reprint, the entry. Multiple entries are welcome.

Deadline – November 1, 2025
