Stay in the Loop with Committee Correspondence
Are you receiving the committee correspondence you need? Our Engage collaboration platform allows you to modify your delivery preferences for every committee on which you serve. Many committee rosters are updated after the annual meeting, so now is a great time to review those preferences.
Review your settings on your Profile page—look for the Community Notifications link under the My Account tab. Tailor your preferences by selecting real-time delivery of committee messages or consolidating all or a portion of your communications in a daily or weekly digest. "Real Time" is the best choice in most instances, to ensure you don't miss an opportunity to respond to sensitive actions.
If you hit a roadblock or see an error message in your email preferences, reach out to staff for help. Our FAQ page is also a great resource.

ASABE Standards Staff Attends Solar Farm Summit
ASABE staff attended the Solar Farm Summit in Chicago recently, where they met with stakeholders to coordinate the future of clean energy and dual use solar and food production. Standards staff members Scott Cedarquist and Britni Wall are shown here with Shaswati Behera (center), of the University of Nebraska, who also attended the summit, where she presented her ASABE-award–winning poster on robotic mowing.
The networking they conducted was especially valuable as ASABE develops a related standard, X669 Agrivoltaics Terms and Definitions, in partnership with the Solar Energy Industries Association. To participate in this project, please reach out to Britni Wall.

Standards Notes & Outreach
- We completed our annual assessment for accreditation as a Canadian standards developer and we’ve initiated our first Canadian Standards Project to nationally adopt ISO 4254 Agricultural machinery - Safety - Part 1: General requirements as a National Standard of Canada.
- Earlier this month Scott Cedarquist participated in the ANSI International Forum and International Council meetings. As their titles imply, these committees provide updates on the ISO standards development process and allow the US to provide feedback on new higher-level proposals within the ISO system.
- Jean Walsh traveled to Paris last week as a member of the US delegation to a meeting of ISO Technical Committee 23 Subcommittee 6, which covers equipment for crop protection. Numerous delegates from the US participated, both in person and virtually.

Open-Access Document Based on ASABE Standards Clarifies Evapotranspiration Terminology
A new publicly available technical note based on ASABE standards clarifies terminology related to evapotranspiration (ET), providing a reliable foundation for communications in water resource planning and irrigation management.
“Evapotranspiration Terminology and Definitions” was written in collaboration with 2025 updates to ASABE's standards on soil and water nomenclature. Published by the American Society of Civil Engineers Environmental & Water Resources Institute, it benefited from the expertise of more than 27 coauthors, including ASABE members, and input from dozens of state and federal agencies, irrigation and water resource organizations, industry partners, researchers, and international groups. More than 50 stakeholders wrote letters of support for the project.
Find the open-source technical note here. |

ASABE Standards Referenced in Canadian Regulations
Standards Council of Canada recently advised us of six places where ASABE standards are referenced by the Canadian national, provincial, and territorial regulations. The documents include ANSI/ASABE-S276.6-05 Slow Moving Vehicle Identification Emblem (SMV Emblem) and ASABE S574-00(R2005) Instructional Seat for Agricultural Equipment. In some cases, the same standard is referenced in multiple regulations.
For more information, refer to the CanLII database, which includes inventory of all Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial regulations. |
