St Joseph, Mich--Joel Makower, chairman and executive editor of GreenBiz Group, has been announced as keynote speaker for the 2019 ASABE Annual International Meeting.
Nearly every company is assessing itself through the lens of sustainability. For a handful of leadership companies, it involves asking the question, “How do we compete in a world in which energy, water, materials, carbon and toxicity are constraints to growth?” Today, sustainability is not just about “doing less bad” or “greening the bottom line.” It’s about reducing risk—supply chain, reputation, financial and more. It’s about growing the top line through innovation, new markets, increased productivity and increased ability to attract and retain talent. And, increasingly, it’s about being regenerative and more resilient in a world facing resource constraints and climate challenges.
Lead author of the annual State of Green Business report, Makower is a veteran journalist with more than 40 years' experience. He also hosts GreenBiz's annual GreenBiz Forums, the global event series VERGE, and other events. Makower is author of more than a dozen books, including his latest, The New Grand Strategy: Restoring America's Prosperity, Security, and Sustainability in the 21st Century. In 2012, Makower was awarded the Hutchens Medal by the American Society for Quality, which cited “his ability to tell compelling stories that both inform and inspire business leaders toward profitable action.” In 2014, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.
