Hyderabad, India--The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, in partnership with its Indian sister society, the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineering, brought together some of the world's most esteemed authorities on water security in a conference that drew attendees from five continents.
"Global Water Security for Agriculture and Natural Resources" convened in Hyderabad, India, and featured 21 invited keynote speaker from the United National Food and Agriculture Organization, WorldBank, and the International Committee on Irrigation and Drainage, as well as from industry, academia, and government agencies, including the US Department of Agriculture. The event drew more than 300 registrants from 19 countries.
Among the highlights of the event was a panel discussion that included farmers from both USA and India, who lent perspective on the practical aspects of water-security strategies at the user level.
Conference organizaers were particularly pleased by the participation of university students, who competed for travel grants funded by the United States Department of Agriculture – National Institute of Food and Agriculture A preconference symposium was attended by more than 50 academic leaders from USA and India
