ASABE, AES Join Forces in Strategic Partnership
ASABE and the Aquacultural Engineering Society (AES) have announced the formalization of a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating technical innovation and professional growth within aquatic engineering.
As the world’s fastest-growing protein sector, aquaculture requires robust engineering solutions to ensure sustainability, food security, and environmental integrity. A cornerstone of the agreement is the ability for AES to leverage ASABE’s prestigious status as an ANSI-accredited standards development organization. The two societies have committed to the joint development of new technical standards beginning in 2027.
“This partnership is a significant step forward in our mission to promote engineering in food, water, and energy systems,” says ASABE Executive Director Cedric Calhoun. “By combining our standards-developing expertise with the niche technical knowledge of AES, we are creating a powerful engine for innovation that will benefit the global engineering community and the public at large.”

All authors who submitted an abstract to the technical program have received notification of their abstract status. If you are looking for your notice, check your email or log into the submission portal to review your abstract. Instructions are posted. The deadline for edits and presenter registration is May 12!

Quad City Section Honors Members
Several Quad City section members were honored recently for technical achievements and section contributions.
J ames Hitch (photo left) is the section's 2026 Member of the Year. Hitch retired in 2015, after a 42-year career with International Harvester, Ford New Holland, and CNH Industrial concentrating on product testing and evaluation of agricultural equipment. A 33-year ASABE member, he chaired the Quad City section and the planning committees for both a regional and national conference devoted to agricultural machinery design.
Megan Frank (photo right) was named 2026 Young Member of the Year. After recently receiving her BS in agricultural systems technology from Iowa State University, she joined John Deere, where she provides technical support at the Harvester Works for weld- and assembly-related issues on the shop floor. She has served for the past two years as the section’s meetings arrangements coordinator.
The John Deere Harvester corn-head engineering team associated with the development of the Auto Adjust Deck Plates (AADP) received the 2026 Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award. Among the features of the AADP system, available for model year 2027 John Deere corn heads, is automatic adjustment of the deck plate spacing on the corn head using sensors to detect the diameters of the entering corn stalks. Continuing Professional Development Session
2026 Annual International Meeting
Tuesday, July 14, 5:15 – 6:15 pm
Registration: $10
Join us this summer at the annual meeting in Indianapolis for a special session to become certified as an ASABE reviewer. Learn about the peer-review process and how to write a helpful peer-review report. Discuss best practices and approaches with other ASABE reviewers.
This CPD is targeted at newer authors and reviewers but is open to all. Participants will receive certificates at the completion of the CPD noting their designation as ASABE Certified Reviewers. Register through the AIM registration portal.
