E-Week Outreach Raises Awareness of the Profession
Our celebration of Engineers Week included sponsoring a special award at the Future City Competition Finals, held in Washington, DC. The competition challenges middle-school teams to dream a city of the future and leverage all the engineering components that will make it wonderful place to live. ASABE’s special award recognizes the team that presents the Most Sustainable Food Production System. This year’s winner was the team from Pui Ching Academy, in Macau, who impressed our judges with their use of multiple innovative solutions to sustainably feed its population. Our judges also liked their use of wind turbines that pulled moisture out of the air.
Our thanks to the Maryland/DC section members who judged on behalf of ASABE. Photo above, from left: National Agricultural Engineer (ret.) Wayne Bogovich, National Agricultural Engineer J'Que Jones, and National Energy Engineer Terri Ruch.
