Natural Resources, Ecosystems Focus of New ASABE Journal

JNRAE Blog ImageASABE is pleased to introduce its newest refereed publication, the Journal of Natural Resources & Agricultural Ecosystems. This new, open-access, peer-reviewed journal began publication just last month, and the NRES Community Editor serves as editor of the journal.

This professional society–driven, US-based journal has a focus on superlative quality. JNRAE benefits from rigorous peer-review and best-in-class professional editing to clearly and accurately present the meaning and value of the research.

The NRES journal includes a variety of article types, as different ASABE members prefer consuming content in a mix of approaches, including:

  • Research articles
  • Research briefs
  • Review articles
  • Frontier articles
  • Perspective articles

ASABE will publish the NRES journal four times a year, with articles also being published online as they’re completed. The journal will cover the following topics:

  • Hydrology
  • Evapotranspiration
  • Soil erosion
  • Water quality
  • Biogeochemical processes
  • Drainage, irrigation, conveyance, and reservoir infrastructure
  • Agricultural, forest, peri-urban, stream, wetland and coastal systems
  • Microbial, organism, plot, field, farm, watershed, ecosystem, continental, and global scales/interactions
  • Sustainability, resiliency, circularity, management, mitigation, recovery, and restoration
  • Disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives that integrate engineering and physical sciences related to natural and environmental systems

The NRES journal encourages articles that consider systems thinking using a variety of multidisciplinary approaches, including field and laboratory experimentation, measurement techniques, modeling, data analysis, decision support and case studies. The journal invites articles from international audiences.

ASABE members with ideas on special collections can initiate one at any time—simply contact the Editor in Chief, Dr. Garey Fox, North Carolina State University.

The NRES journal does charge per article, and the charges are different from other ASABE journals:

  • $1,500—four pages or less research briefs, frontier and perspective
  • $2,100—eight pages or less research article
  • $2,400—15 pages or less review article
  • $1,800—eight pages or less special collection article
