ASABE Recognizes Five Members for Outstanding Contributions to Agricultural and Biological Engineering

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently presented awards for excellence in efforts that help advance the profession.  The following individuals were honored at the 2026 ASABE Annual International Meeting, held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Edwin Kreis is the recipient of the 2026 Evelyn E. Rosentreter Standards award for standardization work that contributes to the foundation of tractor/ implement interface compatibility, allowing brands of tractors and implements to work together The Evelyn E. Rosentreter Standards Award recognizes individuals who have given exceptional contributions toward the generation, maintenance, and administration of ASABE standards.

 

Oladiran Fasina, PE, ASABE Fellow, is the recipient of the 2026 James R. and Karen A. Gilley Academic Leadership award for visionary guidance, strategic innovation, and a deep commitment to faculty, staff, and student success. The James R. & Karen A. Gilley Academic Leadership Award honors an ASABE member who is currently providing outstanding academic leadership while serving as department head/chair of an ABET-accredited biological and agricultural engineering department.

 

Dirk E. Maier, PE, ASABE Fellow, is the recipient of the 2026 Kishida International Award for enhancing food and nutrition security worldwide through development and delivery of innovative engineering for stored product protection and feed technology. The Kishida International Award honors outstanding contributions to programs of education, research, development, consultation, or technology transfer that have resulted in significant improvements outside the United States. 

 

Kasiviswanathan Muthukumarappan is the recipient of the 2026 Lalit and Aruna Verma Award for Excellence in Global Engagement for pioneering advancements in global food engineering, empowering sustainable practices, and elevating agricultural engineering education and standards worldwide. The Lalit and Aruna Verma Award for Excellence in Global Engagement recognizes outstanding contributions made towards global advancement and recognition of the profession of agricultural and biological engineering, and excellence in global engagement and international education, outreach, or research. 

 

Brady Lewis, PE, is the recipient of the 2026 PEI Professional Engineer of the Year award for outstanding contributions to the agricultural machinery industry and promotion of professional engineering licensure. The PEI Professional Engineer of the Year Award recognizes a licensed engineer who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, the public welfare, and/or humankind. 

 

ASABE is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biological systems.
