Annual National Standard Review Cycles

• Standard 5-Year Cycle: All active ASABE standards must be reviewed before their initial 5-year publication anniversary, and at least once every 5 years thereafter.

• 10-Year Stabilization Cycle: Non-safety-related standards that have been reaffirmed at least once and remain unrevised for over 10 years can apply for stabilization. If approved, the required review interval extends to 10 years.

• Ad-Hoc Revisions: Experts overseeing document maintenance can initiate a revision at any time, regardless of where the standard is in its official review cycle.

Annual Review Timeline

• March – May (Pre-Review Window): Standards due for review are identified, allowing experts to prepare revision plans.

• September – December (Annual Maintenance Review Ballots): Voting generally occurs during this window, though dates may be adjusted to align with ISO reviews for adopted international standards.
