Don't Miss The Opportunity to Celebrate at #ASABE23

YPC 20th Anniversary logo

Two decades ago, young professionals in ASABE banded together to create a special interest group that fulfilled their unique needs—the Young Professionals Community. At the 2023 ASABE Annual International Meeting, the YPC will be hosting some special events to celebrate 20 years of their leadership and growth within ASABE.

Sunday, July 9, will kick off bright and early at 7 am for the annual YPC Fun Run. The 5k run or one-mile walk is among the longest-running YPC events. This year the run will take partipants around the Omaha Pedestrian Bridge. Plan to meet at the registration desk to walk to the starting area. Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $25.

Also on Sunday, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, is the YPC Reunion Reception and All in Good Fun Pedal Tractor Race. During the Welcome Reception, four individuals will spend the first 30 minutes getting contributions for the All in Good Fun campaign. The person who raises the most will choose a pedal tractor for the pedal tractor pull race. Past YPC Chairs and Executive Committee members will also be recognized during the reception.

After the Welcome Reception YPC will host a Graduate Student Presentation Workshop from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This workshop will discuss the dos and don’ts of giving technical presentations. Presenters can utilize a practice session and receive workgroup feedback.

Sunday evening concludes with a YPC Graduate Student Social from 7:30 to10:00 pm. Graduate students will get to network in an informal setting.

The YPC Business Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 11, from 5:15 to 6:30 pm. This is a unique opportunity for ASABE members age 34 and under to learn firsthand what the YPC offers and to take advantage of leadership opportunities.

A YPC Anniversary Dinner will be held in conjunction with the ASABE Foundation at the Charles Schwab Field on Tuesday evening. Starting at 6 pm, the casual event is designed to encourage meeting and mingling of the diverse ASABE membership. The Charles Schwab Field, home of the College World Series, is only a short walk from the Hilton.

The evening includes a dinner buffet, cash bar, a featured presentation by Cheryl Mitchell titled “Across the Generations,” and a trivia event.

Featured speaker Cheryl Mitchell will offer facts, stats and strategies for working with colleagues from different generations, sharing her humor, personal experiences, stories and honesty.

A trivia event wraps up the evening at 8:30, and is included in your ticket. Teams can sign up in advance or you can put together a team that evening at the dinner.

Cost: $120 per person (ASABE members) and $50 per person (ISB/YPC members). Ticket prices bump up to $140 and $60, respectively, if purchased during AIM.

Reserve a table or become a sponsor for what promises to be a fun evening.
